I have found a new passion for refinishing furniture. Simply remaking old ugly tossed to the side furniture center stage again. It all started when I kept seeing chalk paint all over Pinterest and knew I had several "ugly/old" pieces of furniture around the house that were functional but an eye sore. You know the pieces you took from your parents house when you moved out to make your way in the world, old hand me downs.
The thing about these pieces that I love is that they are sturdy, heavy, and well made. Not like the particle board furniture you get today that I would not waste my money painting. These old pieces can still have a lot of life in them if they are simply remade into beautiful pieces of artwork, statement pieces. What once was hidden in the corner and shamed can become the focal point of a room with a little love and color.
I will admit I am having a hard time not painting every piece of furniture in my house. I think there has to be a balance between old and new in a home. Working on these piece is relaxing and addicting. I love seeing the old become beautiful again and the transformation that happens. It is like cleaning out a closet and seeing it organized again.
Okay, maybe I am a little OCD but I do get pleasure out of seeing things look good and revitalized. I would love to redo others pieces or resale pieces because I have exhausted my supply of furniture in my home and my husband might lose it if I paint another thing in our house. Here are a few before and after picture of the pieces I have done.
I will have more tutorials in the following blog posts.
